On Saturday, May 22nd Ron Bolduan will be the main speaker for the “Green Saturday” program being held at the St. James VFW. The program is sponsored by Watonwan SWCD and Watonwan Environmental Services. Ron will present slides on the “Minnesota River Valley National Scenic Byway.” Bolduan, a lifetime ‘River Rat,’ was born and raised on the confluence of the Minnesota and Cottonwood Rivers in New Ulm. His boyhood was a Huck Finn existence of frolicking in and on the banks of the two rivers.
Later in life, Ron involved himself with numerous organizations dedicated to protecting and revitalizing these deteriorating resources.  His goal was to pass along an opportunity for future generations to share similar experiences and to increase awareness of what awesome natural resources these waterways are.
The morning will also include presentations on the “Care of Trees,” “Raised Gardens” and “Rain Barrels.”
Registration and refreshments begin at 8:30 a.m. and the first speaker is at 9:00. Early registration is $5.00 and $6.00 at the door.  The day will end at 12:15 with door prizes and lunch.  Contact Watonwan SWCD at 375-3104 ext. 101 or on the website at www.co.watonwan.mn.us for more information.
