As Americans all over the nation gather this Memorial Day to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, communities will celebrate in different ways, many with special services.
As Americans all over the nation gather this Memorial Day to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, communities will celebrate in different ways, many with special services. Services will be held in the St.?James Area at the following locations:
• Butterfield-Odin - The Donald V. Larson VFW Post 9607 will present a Memorial Day Program at 10:00am, Monday, May 31st, 2010.?The speaker will be Butterfield-Odin High?School Teacher Dennis Stade and music by the B-O High?School Band and Choir. Memorial?Day ceremonies will be observed at the following cemeteries prior to the program at the school: North Mennonite (6:45am), Butterfield Community (7:00am), Kansas Lake Lutheran (7:25am), Long Lake Lutheran (7:45am), Zion Lutheran (8:00am), Grace Lutheran, Ormsby (8:15am), St. Olaf Lutheran (8:55am) and Butterfield City (9:15am).
• St James - Services will be held at the Memorial Park Band Shelter at 10:00am. 2nd Vice Commander of Legion Post # 33, Rick Leistekow, will be the key note speaker. The St. James High?School Band under the direction of Mrs. Karen Lahti will present the National Anthem. There will be a march from the bandstand to Memorial Drive to honor the dead of sea and an air service. There will be Memorial Poppies dropped on St. James Lake from an airplane.
