    Catherine Oanes, 65, of St. James died on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System-St. James.
    Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in St. James. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in St. James.
    Visitation was held on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. rosary scheduled at St. James Catholic Church. Visitation continued for one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
    Catherine “Cathy” Julia Tiell was born on February 27, 1946 to Gustav and Julia (Sandmeyer) Tiell in St. James, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Catholic Church. She grew up in St. James and graduated with the St. James High School class of 1965.
    On November 16, 1968 she was united in marriage to Jon Oanes at Waverly Lutheran Church in Trimont. Together they had three children, Michael, Melissa and Matthew. She was employed by Tony Downs and Armour-Eckrich, where she was currently employed.
    Cathy was an avid gardener and very proud of her flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed quilting, camping, baking, spending time with her sisters, volunteering at church.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time her children and grandchildren.
    Survivors include her husband, Jon Oanes of St. James, MN; children, Michael (Heidi) Oanes of Owatonna, MN, Melissa (Ryan) Waterbury of Fairmont, MN and Matthew and special friend Rachel Erdal of St. James, MN; grandchildren, Alysha, Sawyer and Haley Waterbury and Alexis Oanes; sisters, Maryann Myers of St. James, MN, Margaret (Bill) Davis of Mankato, MN and Stephanie (Jerry) Daberkow of Lakefield, MN; sister-in-law, Enid (Don) Anderson of Lake Crystal, MN; brothers-in-law, Dean Oanes of Alden, MN and Peter (Lorraine) Oanes of Pittsburg, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws; brother, Gustave; and brothers-in-law, Ron and Jim.
