  • The Saints gymnasts hosted Worthington on Tuesday night with Worthington winning the meet by a team score of 132.825 to 110.975.
As the year has progressed, the Saints continue to show improvement in their overall team score, but it was not enough to overcome the depth of the Worthington team.
Once again, junior Erin Hurley had the most top four finishes for the Saints. Erin was the Saints’ all around high scorer with a 31.750 point total. This was good for a third place finish in the all around.
Hurley placed fourth in the vault with a score of 8.40, and she placed third in the uneven bars with a score of 7.625.
Thanks to several finishes just outside of the top four in individual events, Breonna Ommodt finished fourth in the all around with a score of 27.725.
Worthington’s Tara Svalland finished first in the all around with a score of 35.200, and Paige Kinley finished second with a score of 33.075.
Commenting on the meet against Worthington, Saints head coach Rachel Aamot said, “We struggled a bit on the vault, which normally is our strongest event.”
That prevented the Saints from garnering an even higher team score. Overall Aamont is pleased with the progress the Saints have show over the course of the season.
All around team scores for the Saints were:
    Erin Hurley, 31.750
    Breonna Ommodt, 27.725
    Karen Gonzalez, 25.952
Megan Lindquist, 21.675 (participated in 3 events)
Glenda Hector, 11.525 (participated in 2 events)
The Saints host Blue Earth Area in a conference meet on Friday night with the B squad kicking off action at 6 p.m. It’s parents night on Friday night, when the parents of the team members will be acknowledged for their support of St. James gymnastics.
