  •     The Saints gymnastic team and fans paid homage to the team’s seniors on the final home meet of the year when the Saints hosted Luverne on Tuesday night.
Seniors Breonna Ommodt, Karen Gonzalez, Megan Lindquist, and Stephany Garza were recognized for their contributions to St. James gymnastics.
The Saints lost the meet to Luverne by a team score of 119.550 to 110.825.
Junior Erin Hurley had another strong performance.  She won the all around with a score of 31.100.  Hurley won the balance beam with a score of 8.125 and she won the floor exercise with a score of 8.025.
Megan Lindquist placed third in the balance beam and Breonna Ommodt placed fourth in the all around.  Hurley placed second in the uneven parallel bars.
The Saints kept the score close in 3 of 4 events, but Luverne won the uneven bars with a team score of 26.050 to 21.625, and that was the largest scoring advantage Luverne had in an event.
The all around scores for the Saints were:
    31.100 Erin Hurley
    27.600 Breonna Ommodt
    25.950 Karen Gonzalez
    22.325 Megan Lindquist

          Saints v. BEA
The Saints gymnasts toasted their parents and hosted the team from Blue Earth Area on Friday night, but lost a meet to the Buccaneers by a team score of 124.800 to 109.750.
It was parents night, and the armory was decorated by the team with posters expressing thanks to their parents for their support over the year.
The Saints kept the match close by performing very well on the floor and the vault.
BEA won the vault by a team score of 34.050 to the Saints score of 33.900.  BEA narrowly won the floor exercise by a score of  31.875 to the Saints’ score of 29.500.
It was the uneven bars where the meet was decided when Blue Earth garnered a score of 31.400 to 20.950 for the Saints.
The Saints lost the balance beam by a couple of points.  A couple of falls off the beam likely prevented the Saints from winning that event.
Junior Erin Hurley was once again the most consistent gymnast for the Saints.
Erin finished third in the all around with a score of 31.750.  She finished fourth in the uneven parallel bar with a score of 7.150. She would have likely scored higher, but one of the grips on her wrist and hand unraveled, and forced her to dismount to  repair it.
Hurley finished second in the vault with a score of 8.825, second in the floor exercise with a score of 8.875, and third in the balance beam with a score of 7.000.
In addition to Hurley’s all around score, other all around scores for the Saints were:
    28.925 Breonna Ommodt
    24.900 Karen Gonzales
    Page 2 of 2 - 20.675 Megan Lindquist
    11.250 Glenda Hector (2 events)
    8.250 Bailey Petersen (2 events)
Chante Anderson won the all around for BEA with a score of 32.975. Cassie Thompson finished in second for the Bucs with an all around score of 32.525.
The Saints travel to St. Peter for their next meet on Friday.  The B team meet begins at 6 p.m.
