Herman Sieving, 98, of St. James died on Sunday March 4, 2012, at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. James with Pastor Martin Lopahs officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and will continue for one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
Herman W. Sieving was born May 3, 1913 to Emil and Anna Sieving in Missouri. He spent most of his life in Chicago, Illinois and Michigan before moving to St. James in 1996.
On June 1, 1935 he was united in marriage to Lois Johnson. He worked as superintendent for a print shop. He enjoyed doing yard work, riding bike and socializing at the Senior Dining Center. He was especially passionate about square dancing. He was the treasurer of the Swingin’ Saints Square Dancing Club of St. James. He was also President of the Bustle Hustlers Club in Estherville.
Survivors include his children, Evelyn (Terry) Hagen of rural Hanska, MN, Priscilla Stratton of Yuma, AZ and Roger Sieving of CA; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Herman was preceded in death by parents; and sister, Edythe Kring.
