  •     Charles Palmquist, 59, of St. James died on March 13, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
        Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James with Reverend Kathleen Ulland-Klinkner officiating. Burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James.
        Visitation was held on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and will continue for one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
        Charles William Palmquist was born August 3, 1952 on August 3, 1952 to Sven and Edna (Baker) Palmquist. He grew up in St. James where he attended school. He served 21 years in the National Guard and worked at Tony Downs.
        On October 23, 1976 he was united in marriage to Judy Hoffrogge.
        Chuck enjoyed spending time with family and loved playing with his grandchildren. He liked watching dirt track racing, Minnesota Twins, grilling out and traveling to California to visit family. He loved rummage sales and scrapping.
        Survivors include his wife, Judy of St. James, MN; children, Chastity Vazquez of St. James, MN, Chad Palmquist of St. James, MN and Lisa Zaldivar of Los Angels; sisters, Brenda (Dean) Martinez of St. James, MN, Nancy (Marv) Palmquist of Laverne, MN and Peggy Guillen of St. James, MN; brothers; Randy Palmquist of Lewisville, MN, Karl Palmquist of Ormsby, MN and Earl (Becky) Palmquist of St. James, MN; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law, Jeanette (Dennis) Kunz of Madelia, MN, Jill (Ted) DeLaCruz of Madelia, MN, Janet Tierney of Madelia, MN, Josephine (Kevin) Lindquist of Winona, MN and Jolene Blekstad of Madelia, MN; brothers-in-law, Joe Hoffrogge of Madelia, MN and Jeff Hoffrogge of Waseca, MN; special friends, Sheryl Wendt of St. James, MN and “Old Grandma” of St. James, MN.
        Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; and aunts and uncles.
