  • Baseball team wins one, loses one

  • The Saints beat visiting Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial 2-1 Monday night. However, last Thursday the Saints traveled to Waseca, gave up one earned run and lost 6-1.

         The Saints beat visiting Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial 2-1 Monday night.
        Sam Carlson got the win.  He went five innings, struck out six, gave up only two hits, walked five and was charged with one earned run.
        Nick Anderson tossed the last two innings in the Saints win.
        Lead off hitter Zack Gleiter went one for two with two stolen bases.  On the base he stole in the bottom of the third inning, Gleiter advanced to third from second when the throw from the catcher skipped into shallow center field.  He then scored the Saints first run on a wild pitch by LCWM’s pitcher Trevor Brandts.
        The Knights tied the game in the top of the fourth by scratching out a run. Carlson walked a batter on a full count.  He failed to cleanly field a sac bunt attempt, so the runner beat the throw to first. With two on, a single to right tied the game.
        LCWM could have broken the game open when they loaded the bases, but Carlson worked out of the jam and that was the only run the visitors got...

        Last Thursday the Saints traveled to Waseca, gave up 1 earned run and lost 6-1. The seven errors the Saints committed allowed five unearned runs and that was a major reason for the loss.  
        The Saints only had two hits - one each by Anthony Stordalen and Craig Nelson. Zac Hiller got the shutout for the Bluejays.
        Kyle Pinke took the loss for the Saints.  Pinke pitched two innings, struck out one, walked four, gave up three runs with none of them earned...
