Ervin Bottin of Windom and formerly of Kimball Township was called to his eternal rest at age of 83, early Wednesday morning, May 9, 2012 at the Windom Area Hospital.
Visitation was 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake. Visitation resumed at church, one hour before the funeral. The funeral service was 10:30 Saturday, May 12 2012 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Butterfield. The Reverend Matthew Natsis officiated. Interment was at St. Matthew's Cemetery in Butterfield. Ervin Harvey Bottin was born September 23, 1928 to Edward and Pearl (Kramer) Bottin in Mountain Lake. He was baptized on October 14, 1928, confirmed on June 28, 1942, and married on June 6, 1948, all at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball Township. Ervin was united in marriage to Loretta L. Hanson. They farmed in Cedar Township until 1974. Then he moved to Kimball Township and farmed there until his retirement in 1997. Until recently, he continued to help on the farm. A very active member of St. Matthew's Church, Ervin enjoyed fishing, camping, going to Mesa, Arizona for the winter, and restoring old farm equipment. He especially enjoyed his family and playing Rolle-Bolle.
Ervin is survived by his wife, Loretta of Windom; three children, Linda (Kent) Dunker and Kevin (Shirley) Bottin, all of Mountain Lake, and Jeffrey (Beverly) Bottin of Odin; eight grandchildren, Cory (Kelly) Lorenz, Shayne Bottin, Brandee (Jason) Jepsen, Amber (Rob) Smith, Angela (Clint) Serl, Casandra (Michael) Newth, Jeremy Bottin and Heather Bottin; 16 great-grandchildren, Macy and Caleb Lorenz, Dan, Casey, and Rachel Pauly, Aleesha, Jesse, Baylee, and Mareena Jepsen, Cole and Callie Jackson and Dawson Smith, Nathan and Dalton Serl, Kaitlyn and Kenadie Newth; brother, Marvin (Bonnie) Bottin of Windom, MN; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Janice) Hanson of Odin, MN, Myron (Loretta) Hanson of Hendricks, MN, and DeLyle (Carol) Hanson of Holmen, WI; many nieces and nephews including Rhonda Stadtfeld and Robin Bottin of MN and special niece, Lois (Hank) Engels of Wilmont, MN. He is also survived by many cousins and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Cheryl and brother, Edward Bottin.
