Joseph A. Wilth, age 77, of St. James, died on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, at St. Pauls Ev. Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev. Martin Lopahs officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James. Visitation will be Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James from 4 until 7 p.m. and will continue at the church one hour before services on Wednesday. Joseph Albert Wilth was born in St. James on September 30, 1934, the son of Silas and Marie (Becker) Wilth. Joe grew up on the family farm in Long Lake Township where he attended rural school, graduating in 1952 from St. James High School. Joe drove truck for a few years for Engdahl trucking. On August 28, 1958, Joe was united in marriage to Phyllis Heppner. The couple made their home on the family farm where they continued to farm until the late 1990's. Joe served as a Township Supervisor for Long Lake Township, served on the church council and was a trustee at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church and was a seed distributor for Cargill Seeds. He and Phyllis enjoyed wintering in Arizona for more than 20 years, camping, western movies and collecting toy tractors.
Joe is survived by his wife; Phyllis Wilth of St. James; son, Eric (Janet) Wilth of Maple Grove; daughter, Nancy (Sam) DiPasquale of Apple Valley; a sister, Joyce (David) Zender of Lake Crystal; 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and Phyllis's parents.
