As per tradition, the 4th of July firework festivities will be located at Memorial Park over St. James Lake, when it becomes dark enough, after sunset.
At the last St. James City Council meeting, held on Tues., June 18, the City of St. James approved a Fireworks Application ensuring that the community will be able to enjoy a colorful and eye-popping display of 4th of July fireworks.
The fireworks will be provided by the VFW and the VFW Auxiliary.
At the same meeting, Mayor Gary Sturm strongly urged everyone present, as well as those outside the meeting, to thank members of both the VFW and the VFW Auxiliary for their July 4th contributions.
At 6 p.m., the band Attitude will be playing at Memorial Park in the Band Shell for the Concerts in the Park series.
Prior to and during the concert, from 4-8 p.m., an ice cream social and BBQ, sponsored by Opera House Restoration, will be held.
As for parking, according to City Manager Joe McCabe, you needn’t fret.
“Parking has never been an issue,” said McCabe. “People need to remember to bring their bug spray.”
