Gerald G. Heller, 84, of rural St. James, died Sunday, July 1 at the Minneapolis V.A. Health Care System in Minneapolis.
Gerald was called to his eternal rest on Sunday afternoon, July 1, 2012 at Minneapolis V.A. Health Care System in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the Church on Friday. A Celebration of Life Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, Ormsby, with Pastor Brian Thorson officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Odin, with full Military honors by the Donald V. Larson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9607 of Butterfield.
Gerald George Heller was born to George and Eunice (Schultz) Heller in rural Bemer, Neb. on March 18, 1928. He was baptized and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Gerald received his education in Nebraska and helped on the family farm and at a local gas station. On June 4,1950 he was united in marriage to Lois Wascher at Fremont, Neb. On January 23,1951 he served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge on December 31, 1952. They continued living in Nebraska until in March of 1957 when they moved to a farm in Long Lake Township, rural St. James. Gerald greatly enjoyed being with his family, attending all their sporting events and working side by side with his wife, Lois in the wood shop making many different items. Gerald was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ormsby where he was an Elder, Trustee, Usher and served on many church boards. He served on the Long Lake Township Board for many years. Gerald enjoyed mowing his lawn, going to Odin Café and square dancing where it took them to Hawaii and going to Flea Markets.
Those left to honor Gerald’s memory include his three sons, Gerry Heller and his wife, Rhonda, of rural St. James, Luane Heller and his wife, Karen, of rural Butterfield, and Scott Heller and his wife, Robbin, of Sherburn; eight grandchildren, Jason Heller and his wife, Sarah of Albert Lea, Nicole Rogers and her husband, Jim, of North Mankato, Matt Heller and special friend, Jessa of Bloomington, Megan Ambrose and her husband, Brian, of Sherburn, Mike Heller and his wife, Megan, of Sherburn, Lucas Heller and his wife, Stephanie, of Madelia, Jeremy Heller and his wife, Vanessa, of Janesville, and Jessy Heller of rural Butterfield; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Joseph Rogers, Jackson, Brady and Isiah Heller, Leo Heller, Kaine and Jacob and Jack; two sisters, Elaine Kirkland and her husband, Mel, of Norfold, Neb. and Margaret Kind and her husband, Russell, of Wisner, Neb.; step-mother-in-law, Esther Wascher of Trimont; sister-in-law, LeeAnn Cummins and her husband, Marvin, of Hamel, Lana Faye Brock of Sheboygan Falls, Wisc.; brother-in-law, Lowell Wascher and his wife, Lois, of Helena, Mont.; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eunice Heller; brother, Delmar Heller; brother-in-law, Richard Brock and other relatives.
