Duane Curry, age 75, of St. James died at his home on Friday, July 6, 2012. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev. Martin Lopahs officiating. Visitation will be 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and one hour before the service at the church Tuesday. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Duane John Curry was born June 23, 1937, in St. James, the son of Sylvester and Gebka (Aden) Curry. Duane grew in St. James, was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church and attended St. James public school. He worked for the City of St. James as Street and Parks Department Superintendent. Duane served in the National Guard for 11 years and the St. James Fire Department for 27 years. He was a member of the Rifle Association, Game & Fish, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Duane had many interests and hobbies, fishing, gardening, horses, putting together puzzles with his daughters, dancing and woodworking. Duane was patriotic and took pride in his Country. He loved his family, he was always so happy to see his grandchildren and was very interested in everything that was going on in their lives and they loved him dearly. He was a thoughtful caring and loving husband, father, grandpa and brother who will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
Duane is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Theresa Curry of St. James; daughters, Georgene (Jerry) Hultgren of Sioux Falls, S.D., Wendy (David) Bohm of Osakis, Julie (George) Koenig of St. James, Lisa Curry of Burnsville; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Ella Reichart of St. James, Marilyn (Butch) Pierson of Trimont; five brothers-in-law; Roy, Pat, Bill, Jim, Mike; three sisters-in-law; Char, Jane and Sue.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly Hewitt; and his in-laws; George and Theresa Ogle.
