Myron Strom, 86, of New Ulm, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at his home. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Schmucker Funeral Service chapel in New Ulm with Rev. Lisa Doege officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Myron Leighton Strom, the son of Henry and Dorothy (Thedens) Strom, was born April 4, 1926 in New Ulm where he spent his youth and attended school. Myron was united in marriage to Eleanore Freeman on June 14, 1947 in St. James. Together, they farmed near Hanska with his parents. In 1952, the families moved to Browerville where Henry had purchased a farm. After Eleanore's death in 1985, Myron sold the farm and moved to Long Prairie. In 1992, Myron moved to Sunset Apartments in New Ulm, where he resided until his death.
Survivors include his children Garry Strom of Scranton, Iowa, Barbara Lemke (Dennis) of Fridley, Craig Strom (Nancy) of South Haven; two grandchildren Kristen and Eric; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
