  • Mabel Junkans, 99 of Ormsby passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the St. James Mayo Clinic Health System in St. James.

  • Mabel Agnes Junkans, 99 of Ormsby was called to her eternal rest on Tuesday morning, September 18, 2012, on her 99th birthday at St. James Mayo Clinic Health System in St. James. Visitation will be from 5– to 7 p.m. Friday at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the Church on Saturday. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.kramerfuneralhome.com. A Celebration of Life Services for Mabel will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church in Ormsby with Pastor Brian Thorson officiating. Burial will be in St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery in rural Odin.
    Mabel Agnes Bertilson was born to John and Rena (Ronnaug) Wold Bertilson in Odin Township, Watonwan County, Minnesota on September 18, 2012. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Odin. Mabel received her education in country school in Watonwan County. On February 23, 1940 she was united in marriage to Carl Junkans. After their marriage they lived in Trimont and Ormsby area until they moved into Ormsby. Mabel was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and its ladies aid and served in the church choir. Mabel enjoyed making Lutefisk and Lefse at the Ormsby Townhouse for many years. She greatly enjoyed quilting, embroidery and putting together puzzles.
    Those left to honor Mabel's memory include her three daughters, Joyce Martin and her husband, Pete of Cathedral City, Calif., Beverly Engen of Duluth, and Shirley Christensen and husband, Jim of rural Ormsby; six grandchildren, Teri and Steve Barnhart, Stephanie and Joe Harris, Michael and Dru Engen, Vicky and Ron Klapatt, Ladia Albertson Junkans and Audrie Ayres; five great-grandchildren, Tanah and Teagan Barnhart, Zoe Harris, Kale and Kira Engen; brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Marlys Bertilson of Madelia; sister, Bernice Olson of St. James; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
    Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rena Bertilson; husband, Carl Junkans on February 21, 1975; son, Larry Junkans on April 24, 1997; grandparents, John and Ronnaug Volden; brothers, Bertil, Julius, Emil, Orrin, Helmer "Ham" Bertilson; sisters, Ragnild, Opal and Ruby and other relatives.
