Marilyn R. Sperstad, age 75, died October 7, 2012 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia with Pastor Bringle officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday Oct.9, 2012 at the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia Marilyn Ruby Sperstad, daughter of Rodney and Myrtle (Stokke) Nelson, was born on February 23, 1937 in St. James. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Marilyn grew up on a farm near Jeffers, MN and later near Godahl and attended country school and St. James High School. She married Orville Blekestad on January 17, 1954, they were later divorced. She married Donald Sperstad on November 19, 1960 in Sibley, Iowa, they made their home in Madelia with their children. Marilyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia. She enjoyed watching television, especially the Minnesota Twins baseball games, American Idol and the Bachelorette. She loved trying out new recipes and cooking for her family. Marilyn enjoyed listening to country music. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Marilyn will be remembered for her sense of humor, her smile and her unique and contagious laugh.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Bruce) Buckingham of rural Madelia, Susan Sperstad and special friend Lorenzo Valladolid of LaSalle; sons, Rick (Barbara) Blekestad of Duluth, Mark Blekestad of Madelia, Timothy Sperstad of St. James; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Duncan of Citrus Heights, Calif. and brother, Doug
