  • The First Presbyterian Church of St. James opened their doors Wednesday Oct. 3, for their annual Scotties Fair fundraiser.
“We’ve been doing Scotties Fair for about 25 years now,” said stewardship committee member Mary Shupe. “It was started as a project by the Presbyterian women, and since then the stewardship committee has taken over.”
Menu items included beef and chicken sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, and pie.
Booths were set up surrounding the dining hall displaying books, vegetables and other homemade goods that were being sold to benefit the Heifer Project.
“The Heifer Project is run by an international group that provides livestock all over the world,” said Shupe. “Half the proceeds will go with the group and the other half will stay with the church.”
The fair takes the stewardship committee about two days to set up and takes place every year on the first Wednesday of October.
