Last Sunday, Laguna, the St. James men’s soccer team, won the championship of the Liga Rasa Soccer League in a match played at Mankato. It is the first league championship Laguna has ever won.
In a decisive away match, Laguna defeated the Jalapenos from Mankato 2-1. This match was played after Laguna tied the Mankato team 1-1 in a match played in St. James one week earlier.
The champion was determined by the total score of both games, so Laguna won by an accumulative score of 3-2.
The Liga Rasa League has been around since 1996 and is comprised of 12 teams from southern Minnesota.
