  • Halloween is over, and all too soon will come Thanksgiving and Christmas. The St. James women of Today are hoping you are thankful for the blessings of this past year and will help those who didn’t have such a good year by donating for their annual Christmas Tree Sharing Program.
Applications for low-income families are available at the Human Services Building or the Minnesota Valley Action Council office(both across the street from the Watonwan County Courthouse). Please only apply for your children, under 18 years of age and carefully give their age, sizes, and other wish requests and fill out the form completely. All applications are due back by Nov. 15.
If pastors or church groups know of any families that might be in need of help this season, please refer them to Human Services for an application. All information will be kept confidential.
Starting the week of Nov. 18, trees will be set up in various places all over town. “Wish List” tags will be placed on the trees based on the requests received on the applications. You can find these trees at local businesses around St. James.
Share the spirit of Christmas by choosing a tag or two and purchasing gifts for someone whose Christmas will be much happier because of your thoughtfulness and generosity. Be sure to return the gift and tag to the place where you picked it up by Dec. 15. If any 4-H chapters, school groups, Scouts, or other volunteers would like to help us wrap or sort gifts that last week before distribution, call Sarah Fast at 507-956-2286.
Gifts will be distributed from the Brandt Ridge Community Room (1102 2nd Street South) on Monday, Dec. 21 from 4 p.m to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday, Dec. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
For more information call Sarah Fast  at  507-956-2286 or Mary Nommensen at 507-621-0382.
