Martin Luther High School, Northrop will hold the annual Joyful Thanks Fall Benefit Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 10 beginning at 5 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and refreshments.
Valet parking is provided. A catered dinner of Stuffed Butterfly Pork Chops, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, French-cut Green Beans, Cashew Lettuce Salad, and Pull-apart Bread will be served at 6:00 p.m.
Each table will enjoy a gourmet decorated birthday cake to celebrate Martin Luther's 529th birthday--there will be a variety of flavors of cakes, so guests can choose their favorite.
The Alumni Guest Speaker is 1988 Graduate, and a native of St. James, Natalie (Geistfeld) Van Houten.
After gradating from MLHS she received her BA from Augustana College majoring in Psychology and minoring in Social Work. She also earned her Masters of Arts Counseling Psychology/Counselor Education from the University of Colorado at Denver.
Natalie was employed as a Bereavement Counselor at Porter Hospice, Denver for 10 years. Then she worked as a Foster Care/Adoption Counselor at Children’s Home Society, Sioux Falls.
For the past 10 years she has been a home daycare provider.
She is also an Usborne Books and More Educational Consultant and Leader.
Natalie has been married to Darren for 17 years and Mom to Josh, 13 and Carter 9 who take every minute of her spare time but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
The VanHoutens are members of Memorial Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
Then prepare to be royally entertained by "The Looney Lutherans", a team of professional actresses who have come together in a fun and interactive, family-friendly show.
Each of these talented women has been performing for years as actresses, singers and improvisers in the Twin Cities and across the country, and have all been cast members of the hit “Church Basement Ladies” musicals, which have been running around the country since 2005.
Performances include a variety of segments on healthy living the Lutheran way including discussion of the Lutheran “food wheel” (all roads lead to hotdish) and a performance of the Lutheran food rap Eat Like a Lutheran. Their material is comedic, family friendly, and interactive.
