Phyllis Thompson, 80, of St. James, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 31, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, St. James, with Rev. Matthew Natsis officiating. Burial will be held at 11:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Phyllis Arlene King was born Oct. 5, 1932, in St. James, to parents William and Bernice (Haseman) King. She grew up in St. James, where she graduated from high school in 1950. Phyllis was united in marriage to Harlan Thompson on April 21, 1954, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in St. James. Phyllis worked at the Friesen and Friday Store, Tony Downs Foods, was bookkeeper for Harlan’s Thompson Construction business and a realtor for First Reality. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Jaycees. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, crafts, baking, attending auctions and scrapbooking. Phyllis loved to collect St. James memorabilia and being a mother and grandmother.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Harlan Thompson of St. James; son, Kevin and Lisa Thompson, their son, David and Jennifer Lynne Thompson, their daughter, Jennifer (Thompson) and Michael Borneman and their children, son Peyton and daughter, Reese, their son Steven Thompson and his daughter Ade, their daughter Ashley Thompson and her son Chase, son Curtis and Margaret (Warner) Thompson, their son, Michael and Angie Thompson and their sons Tyler and Dylan, their son Benn and Michelle Thompson and their daughters Lauren (and her daughter, London) and Alexi and sons Collin and Trevor Jonathon and Priscilla Thompson, son Kent Thompson, his sons, Bryan Thompson and Lucas Thompson, daughter, Kris and David Rode, their daughter Callie Rode, their son, Connor Rode, their daughter, Trina, passed, daughter Clarice and Todd Sizer, their daughter Jackie Sizer and her daughter Hannah Carstensen and sons Isaac Carstensen and Hayden Redmond, their son Jake Sizer and Shannon Nelson, son, Cory and Jill Thompson, their sons, Tanner Thompson and Anthony Campins, their daughters, Taylor Thompson, Samantha Campins. Also surviving are sisters, Margaret (Al) McQuiston of Mankato and Joanne Evans of Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Bea King, brother Clarence and grandchild Trina.
