The Butterfield-Odin School fifth grade class of Lucille Ammann was the top fundraising class in the Pennies for Peace project this fall.
The class raised $40 and the school raised $146.25. Grades participating in the fundraising project were K-6.
Visiting the children on Monday morning to congratulate them was DeeAnn Gieseke, who is the Coordinator for the Watonwan County Peace Committee and Joe McCabe, who is another Peace Committee member.
The Watonwan County Peace Committee continues to promote ‘peace everywhere’ and is grateful for the participation in the Pennies for Peace Campaign. The Pennies for Peace Campaign has supported projects in each participating school as well as recognizing individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to peace in their communities.
Also participating in the presentation were Butterfield-Odin School staff members Tammi Samuelson and Marge Pankratz.
After the ceremony, Gieseke and McCabe stopped in at the Triumph State Bank of Butterfield where bank president Tim Grefe handed over two sacks of pennies to the Peace Committee as another Butterfield contribution to the Peace Committee’s work.
