"After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours. This afternoon, the president graciously accepted my resignation." - CIA Director David Petraeus, talking Friday afternoon. Petraeus has been head of the CIA since September 2011 and was the top U.S. commander in Iraq and Afghanistan. President Barack Obama's spokesman said no replacement would be named today.
    News to know
CNN projected Friday that a ballot measure in Washington state to legalize gay marriage would pass. By Friday, 75 percent of precincts had reported results, and votes in favor of gay marriage had a solid lead. Washington would become the third state this election cycle to approve same-sex marriage: Maine and Maryland did, too.
