Code Red is a notification utility Watonwan County enacted in June of this year. Moments after a severe thunderstorm, flash food, tornado and winter weather warnings are all delivered through the Code Red Weather Warning program.
Code Red delivers information straight from the National Weather Service to your phone and is free to the public. To sign up, all you have to do is log into the Watonwan County website and enact Code Red. Messages can be delivered to your cell phone, landline, phone call or via email.
The best thing about getting these notifications is they are specific to your location and sent straight from the National Weather Service. That means you will be the first to know when severe weather is happening and how it affects your plans.
More than 400 people have signed up for the services already and will be prepared for winter weather warnings this upcoming season.
