Minnesota Valley Council in partnership with the Salvation Army is working to raise awareness of local needs in our county for the coming winter months. They are seeing an increase in needs due to loss of jobs and higher costs for electricity and heating. Because Watonwan county is one of the poorest counties in the state, that need is only going to be greater and the main concern lies with families who have children.
Watonwan County is a small county, but that doesn’t mean that the need isn’t great. Jobs are scarce and costs are relatively high. Salvation Army crisis funds can help any family that lives in Watonwan County.
To raise money to help with this situation the Salvation Army has begun their bell ringing campaign. There are more kettles available.
All funds raised through this campaign remain for use only in Watonwan County. The funds are used to help in various ways to help families in hard times and are for emergency use.
If you are interested in helping you can help man the kettles. If you are willing to do this call First Presbyterian at 507-375-3432 so that you can schedule a time and place. Another way to help is by putting money in the kettles, every little bit helps. If you or your organization would like to make a donation by check please put Watonwan County Salvation Army on your check and send it to:
