Whether it’s pressure from the holidays, seasonal affective disorder or grieving the absence of a loved one, this time of year can be challenging for many individuals. In an effort to help those suffering from added stress and emotional difficulties, Mayo Clinic Health System in St. James is presenting “Winter Blues, Holiday Blahs and Depression” by Rosean Bishop, Ph.D., licensed psychologist, on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 4 p.m. in the Community Room of the Human Services building, located at 715 Second Ave. S.
“The winter and holiday seasons can be very depressing and stressful times,” says Dr. Bishop. “This forum will offer information and advice so that people can be better prepared to properly address the difficult emotions that can accompany this time of year.”
Dr. Bishop will discuss what makes you feel down during winter and the holidays, ways to cope, and the signs, symptoms and treatments of depression. “Winter Blues, Holiday Blahs and Depression” is part of a series of community forums based on topics community members expressed interest in.
The forum is free and open to the public. Snacks, refreshments and giveaways will be available. For more information, please call 507-375-8602.
