Olivia B. Nelson, age 101, of Lake Crystal formerly of St. James, died on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at the Crystal Seasons Living Community in Lake Crystal. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, at the Church of the Holy Family; 5900 W. Lake Street; St. Louis Park, Minn. with the Rev. Joseph Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, St. James. Memorials are preferred to the Church of St. James. Arrangements with Gearty-Delmore Park Funeral Chapel in St. Louis Park.
Born in Madelia, Olivia attended St. James Catholic School and was a graduate of St. James High School. She was a clerk at several dry cleaning firms in St. James and spent many years in food service at the St. James Hospital and was the head cook for nine years at the Pleasant View Good Samaritan Home. She was a long-time member of St. James Catholic Church and had served as president of the National Catholic Order of Foresters chapter, Women’s Council of Catholic Women, St. James Hospital Auxiliary, St. James VFW Auxiliary Post 1914. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and traveling.
Olivia is survived by her children, Paul Nelson and his wife, Raenette of Dayton, and their children, Mona, Brenda and Christopher; Carol Donlon and her husband, Bill, Sr. of St. Louis Park, and their children, Kathi, Joe and Bill, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and relatives.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester; parents, Magdelena and Frederick Boor and seven sisters
