The idea of exploring the possibility of having the Saints move to another sports conference has been raised by members of the community.
Therefore, we are providing this information as a frame of reference for interested readers.
The numbers show St. James is one of the smaller schools in the conference.
According to Activities Administrator Les Zellmann it is St. James classification number (292) and Butterfield-Odin classification number (57) that makes 349 shown on the chart.
The explanation of how classification is determined is explained on the chart.
The Butterfield-Odin students participating in fall sports numbered:
Football - 6
Volleyball - 4
Girls Tennis - 2
Boys Cross Country - 2
Girls Cross Country - 0
Where St. James Area ranks in participation rates among the schools varies according to the sport.
Some of the larger schools in the South Central Conference have students out for soccer which dilutes the athletes available to play the fall sports the Saints play. St. Peter also has a girls swimming team.
