The nominations for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards were announced Wednesday. Television held a strong presence among the honorees with two of The Voice coaches, NBC's freshmen hit Smash, Ellen DeGeneres, Rachel Maddow, Kathy Griffin, Jimmy Fallon and American Idol's Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood all scoring nominations.

Clarkson earned four nods, including Record of the Year for her song "Stronger," while Underwood scored one for Best Country Solo Performance for "Blown Away." DeGeneres and Maddow were nominated for Best Spoken Word Album. For Best Comedy Album, Late Night's Fallon scored a nod alongside Griffin.

Though last year all four Voice coaches earned nods, this year only Blake Shelton and Adam Levine's band Maroon 5 were nominated for Grammys. Smash, which used to follow The Voice on Monday nights, also scored a nomination for "Let Me Be Your Star."

Only a few months after her husband was re-elected, First Lady Michelle Obama was honored with a nod in the Best Spoken Word category for her book American Grown. Former President Bill Clinton was nominated alongside Obama for his book Back To Work: Why We Need Smart Government For a Strong Economy.
