  • The home based businesses of St. James came together Saturday, Dec. 1, to raise money for the Princess Theater in St. James and to sell their home based goods.
St. James is home to many small businesses that work out of home. They produce and sell straight from their living room different home made goods and helpful oddities.
The fundraiser was an opportunity for home-based businesses to get their name out and sell some of their merchandise. It was also an opportunity for local residents to purchase some  holiday presents. A crowd of shoppers worked their way through Marion Hall and took advantage of the fun items that were up for sale at the event.
Nick-knacks from scarfs to candles were sold at the event as well as gift cards. Door prizes were also drawn and given away to lucky winners.
A portion of all proceeds went to the “Save the Princess” fund. Most recently, the Princess Theater updated the marquee just outside the theater. The marquee was sandblasted before being painted a cream color and blue.
Painting of the marquee wasn’t expected to be finished until the spring of 2013, but the weather cooperated and they were able to get it done ahead of schedule.
Next on the agenda for the princess theater is the purchase and referbishment of the lights that surround the marquee.
