Margaret Penn, age 91, of St. James, died on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22 with the Memorial Service to follow at 2 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James. Reverend Robert Springer will be officiating. The committal service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 at the Garden of Memories in Waterloo, Iowa. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.sturmfh.com. Margaret Frances McNabb was born to John Henry and Addie Gail (Gants) McNabb in Charles City, Iowa on May 12, 1921. She married Frank LeRoy Penn on February 1, 1942 at the Grace Methodist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Margaret was a full-time homemaker and enjoyed playing cards, working with plants, crafts, reading, sewing and using the computer. She attended school in Waterloo, Iowa and lived in the Cedar Falls and Waterloo, Iowa area until moving to St James in 2005 to be closer to her family. Margaret died at the age of 91 years, 7 months old, at the Pleasant View Nursing home in St James where she had been residing since June, 2012. Previously Margaret had been a resident of Brandt Ridge from 2007-2012.
Margaret is survived by two sons, LeRoy (Tamie) of Spanaway, Wash., and Eric (Laurel) of St James; three grandchildren, Chad Penn of St James, Carlie (Brian) Olson of Hanska and Cory (Hannah) Penn of Rochester; five great-grandchildren, Tanner, Cooper and Sawyer Olson of Hanska, and Kayla and Khloe Penn of Rochester; sister-in-law, Doris McNabb of Honolulu, Hawaii; and nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Frank Penn on December 24, 2004; parents; sister, Mary (Lyle) Wagoner; and brother, Rev. Robert (Doris) McNabb.
