St. James seniors Aryn Eckstrom and Johnathan Surber have won the Minnesota State High School League's annual award as the AAA students from St. James High School.
Triple A stands for academics, athletics and arts.
The purpose of the award is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in the fine arts.
To be eligible for the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award a student must:
Be a high school senior at the time of nomination. Nominations are limited to two qualifying students per school, one male and one female.
The students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the date of nomination.
They must participate in League-sponsored athletics and fine arts activities and they must comply with the MSHSL's student code of conduct.
Aryn will receive her award on Friday, Jan. 18, when the girls basketball team hosts Waseca.
Johnathan will receive his award on Tuesday, Feb. 5, when the boys basketball team hosts LCWM.
