Taxpayers can find additional tax-aide sites by calling 1-888-227-7669, or visit AARP website.
Veterans with 20 years of service or 100 percent VA disabled may get up to $750 credit against their Minnesota Income Tax.
Last year AARP tax-aide prepared 174 returns in St. James. IRS regulations do not allow AARP to release the exact amount of refunds generated at each site, however they generated in excess of $150,000 in refunds in St. James.
AARP tax-aide is a free service that prepares income tax returns and answers questions about income taxes. The scope of training sometimes makes it necessary to refer more complicated tax returns to paid preparers. Examples of tax assistance that is beyond the scope of the AARP training area are: Farm, business, and complicated investment taxes. You will be advised at your appointment if you should seek paid tax preparer services.
AARP is always seeking additional volunteers. For more information, call, 1-800-687-2277 or contact a tax counselor at the library.
