“It’s really laid back here, and everyone is willing to help. Randy seemed like a great boss, and he has been so far – so this is a good place to start.”
Veterinarian Dana Cannon began work at the St. James Veterinary Clinic last week and will be splitting time between the clinic here in St. James and Madelia.
This is Cannon’s first job since graduating from the University of Minnesota. She also studied at Ross University of Medicine and is originally from Maryland.
Cannon grew up in a rural area and has always wanted to work with animals. While attending college at Ross University she was convinced by a friend to begin studying to be a veterinarian. Though there are only 27 schools in the United States that offer post-grad veterinarian classes, Cannon was accepted to the University of Minnesota and enjoyed the area so much she decided to stay.
The St. James Veterinary Clinic was the first place that Cannon interviewed, and after talking with a few other places, she decided it was a good fit and moved to St. James.
“It’s really laid back here, and everyone is willing to help,” said Cannon. “Randy seemed like a great boss, and he has been so far – so this is a good place to start.”
In her free time, Cannon enjoys camping with her dog, hiking and horseback riding. She is looking forward to bringing her horse down to St. James next week.
