Mayo Clinic Health System presents Understanding Grief, a no-cost grief support seminar for families and individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The meeting takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Watonwan County/St. James Public Library, 125 Fifth St. S.
“Understanding how to cope with the loss of a loved one and how to handle grief is important in the recovery process,” says Jeanne Atkinson, bereavement coordinator at Mayo Clinic Health System. “We want to provide each participant with valuable coping skills and education to support them during their journey through grief.”
The seminar describes common emotional, physical, social and spiritual responses to loss. Participants will define grief, learn coping skills, share personal stories and spend time in remembrance of those lost.
Preregistration is required and accepted until the day of the event. For more information or to register, please call the hospice office at Mayo Clinic Health System at 507-385-2989 or 1-800-327-3721, ext. 2989 (toll-free).
