Human Services has moved from their building into Marian Hall. The change took place during President’s Day weekend, with an added Friday moving day. The move is temporary while repairs and maintenance is taking place in the Human Services Building.
Watonwan County Auditor Don Kuhlman reported at the Tuesday County Board meeting that the transition took a little longer than expected, but they were able to get everything transferred into Marian Hall.
The telephone numbers and personnel have not changed with the transfer, just the location. Rich Collins, Director of Human Services was not available for comment at press time – but it is business as usual at the Human Services department at this time.
Human services is the largest Watonwan County agency. The department employs more than 50 people with the mission to empower the community by providing quality services and programs to meet human and health needs.
Collins has been the head of Human Services since 1995. Services provided include income maintenance, social services along with community and health services.
The Fitzgerald Moving company was involved in the move from the regular building into Marian Hall. Movers cost the County $240 per hour and helped move more than 300 boxes of paperwork from one building to the other.
