MLC Speech team wins first place

The Mt. Lake Christian Speech Team competed at MSU on Saturday, Feb. 23.  They won the competition coming in first place and bringing home the Small School Sweeps Trophy.  

Small school is defined as 20 or fewer entries. MLC had 11 entries. As a team, MLC earned eight firsts in preliminary rounds which added to a total team score of 73.

Individual Varsity results:

Davis Harder  (Mt. Lake) fourth place  prose

Elijah Stoesz   (Mt. Lake)      fourth place   info     and   fourth place  great speeches

Alex Hu  (Mt. Lake exchange student from Taiwan)    third place  info

Caitlyn Smith  (St. James) sixth place   extemporaneous speaking

James Hamm  (St. James)  seventh place   humor  

Individual Novice results:

Josh Raabe   (Mt. Lake)    third place novice

Also competing were Rachelle Adrian and Ben Mayo.

The Junior High speech team will compete on Thursday, Feb. 28, at St. Peter.

Next Varsity tournament is at Fairmont High School on Saturday, March 2.
