  • The Chillabration and convenient weather brought back an old St. James tradition with the 2013 Ice Fishing Contest.
There were 58 participants in the ice fishing contest, with 41 adults and 17 children participating along with more than 100 people who came to watch and support their friends.
The event took place on Saturday, with ten top prizes being given away and dozens of door prizes for participants. There was a total of 29 fish caught and weighed with 17 Northern Pike, 11 Perch and one Sun Fish.
Alex Stressmen weighed in the most fish but was unable to capture the top prize, a Vexilar Depth Finder. That prize went to Ryan Kohn for his Norther Pike which weighed in at 2 pounds 12 and one-fourth ounces. Second place was awarded to Christie Davis and third place went to Joe Thulien.
Each of participants with the top ten largest fish caught had their choice of a number of prizes ranging from $50 to $350 in value. All of the top ten fish were Northern Pike.
The St. James Chamber of Commerce wanted to add a special thanks to the sponsors of the event, Pioneer Bank, Superfair Foods, Overson Lumber, Fleet-N-Farm, St. James Electric and Randy Nelson Taxidermy.
