Ardis Hanson, age 95, of St. James, died on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.
Ardis Hanson, age 95, of St. James, died on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Odin with Rev. Carla Reierson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. You may send the family condolences online at www.sturmfh.com. Ardis Ingeborg Warling was born May 7, 1917, on the family farm near LaSalle, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Hurtig) Warling. When she was only two years old her mother passed away. She was baptized and confirmed at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church. She attended country school in the LaSalle area, through eighth grade. On February 27, 1941, she was united in marriage to Harold R. Hanson, at her sisters home in St. James. They made their home in Cedar Township, Martin County, where they farmed until 1979. They continued to live on the farm until 1994, when they moved into Butterfield. In 2011, Ardis moved to Brandt Ridge and then moved to Pleasant View in November of 2012. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ladies Aid for several years. Ardis enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, baking lemon pies and lefsa. She and Harold enjoyed 20 years of wintering in Arizona where she loved hiking and even some mountain climbing. She liked to play "500", Rummy Cubes and UNO. She always loved spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her little poodle, Riley was a great companion in her last years in Butterfield.
She is survived by her children, Wayne (Zelda) Hanson of Butterfield, Judith (Rodney) Meyers of Carlos, Rodney (Gail) Hanson of Protem, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Delores) Hanson of Odin, Wayne Nelson of Iowa, Alfred Bessesen of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Rudolph, Enard, Edwin, her twin brother Arthur; sisters, Esther Wolner and Gladys Askeland.
