Wilma Wolner was sitting still in her late model Chevy at the corner of 1st Ave and Armstrong Blvd at about 10:15 am Friday morning when a semi truck turning onto 1st Ave. damaged the left front of her car. A witness who observed the accident said the semi driver was talking on his cell phone an ‘cranking’ the steering wheel with one hand as he turned. Wilma said the truck kept going, but other people followed the semi and relayed information on the truck to law enforcement authorities. Wilma said she was OK. According to St. James Police Chief Mark Carvatt the driver of the semi, Linus Gregory Hoffmann, of Sleepy Eye was issued a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident.
