A fun-filled afternoon and evening of healthy learning and activities is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Madelia High School. The event is free and people of all ages are encouraged to attend.
The featured speaker at the event is Dr. Jeannette Noltenius, a nationally known leader in the field of healthy living. She will provide information about how to make lifestyle changes to prevent weight gain and discuss the leading causes of obesity in the USA. Her presentation will be given in both English (from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.) and Spanish (5:45 to 6:45 p.m.).
Other activities going on during the event include:
Zumba from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria. Zumba is a fun, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, dance-fitness party that has been moving millions of people toward joy and health.
Healthy Cooking Classes from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the High School Home Ec. Room. Come for a hands-on presentation of the benefits of healthy eating and to try out some new healthy snack ideas. Prepare and sample your very own healthy snacks!
The Madelia Community Healthy Family Event is made possible through the collaboration of Madelia High School, The Glen Taylor Nursing Institute for Family and Society, and the Madelia Community Hospital & Clinic.
