4-H Family Night

Watonwan 4-H Youth Leaders hosted a “Beat the Winter Blues” family night on Sunday, Feb. 17, in the First Presbyterian Church in St. James.  The group was able to offer a free supper for about 150 guests because of the generous contributions from area businesses and money they earned washing TMT busses.

Katie Kluver brought the idea of organizing a family night to our youth leaders earlier this fall.  

“What a great experience organizing this event for our community,” said Kluver.

Alison Durheim agreed with her comment about what a great way to “build leadership skills.”. The group received a lot of comments from the guests about the great, fun evening.  

Besides serving supper, the group collected $69.00 and 44.6 percent of food for the local food shelf.  Eight 4-H youth from the Performing Arts project entertained the group with piano music.  A wild night of Bingo finished the evening.
