The boys basketball team held it’s banquet at the First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday night.
Zach Brandts was named the MVP for the Saints this past season.
Zach and fellow junior Walker Froehling were also named to the All Conference South Central team earlier in the week.
Sam Carlson won the best teammate award. The most improved award was shared by William Runge and Ryan Menssen.
Captains for this year were Joe Nelson, Carlson and Froehling.
Walker also won the PluslMinus award. Plus/Minus is a statistic that looks at how teams perform with a certain player on the court, how they perform with a certain player off the court, and calculates the overall impact that player has on team success.

Coach Steve Walker has calculated the lifetime career stats for all SJA players and teams as of the end of this season.
Zach had the second highest number of points in one season with 543 points this year. Tyle Kaus had 714 points in 2002-2003. Zach is fourth on the career points list at the end of this year with 1152. Froehling has moved into 26th place with 612 points.
Brandts is fourth in field goal in one year and fourth in that category for his career.
For three point shots in a career, Walker is in fifth place with 97 and Brandts is in ninth place with 65. The three Kaus brothers Tyler, Coby and Justin are in first, third and fourth place respectively. Austin Pinke is in second place in career treys.
Behind Jeff Nessler, Zach is now in second place in free throws made in one season. Zach made 128 this year and Jeff made 147 in the state championship year of 71-72.
Zach’s in third place in free throws for his career and Zach made 14 free throws against Fairmont, which is the third highest total by a Saints player in a single game.
Walker Froehling had the fifth highest number of blocked shots in one season with 47. He’s also fourth in the career blocks list with 77. Sam Birkholz, who played from 03-05 is first with 74. Another good season of blocks could put Walker at the top of this category
The Saint set a new team record this year, when the team scored 63 points in a half. They did that in the first half of the first game of the year against Madelia.
