  • Are you an adult with an ongoing health condition or caring for someone with an ongoing health condition? Consider taking the Living Well with Chronic Conditions Workshop being offered at the Madelia Community Hospital & Clinic. The workshop consists of six class sessions offered on Tuesdays from 2 to 4:30 p.m. starting April 16th, ending May 21st.
    The program is free of charge to participants due to support from the Minnesota Department of Health and the Madelia Community Hospital Foundation. It was specifically created to help participants with ongoing health conditions such as arthritis, multiple sclerosis, cancer, depression, diabetes, fibromyalgia, high blood pressure, anxiety, heart disease, and more.
    Developed at Stanford University, the Workshop has also been offered at hundreds of locations throughout the United States. In this workshop you’ll find great information and practical skills for: 
    Managing pain and fatigue
    Eating healthy
    Getting appropriate physical activity to help improve and maintain strength and energy
    Making informed treatment choices
    Talking with your doctor and family about your health concerns.
    Most importantly, you will gain confidence, motivation and, find practical solutions to manage the challenges of living with a chronic health condition.
    A new topic is covered each week and opportunities are provided for interaction and group problem solving.  “We are really more like coaches,” says Julie Hoeft, one of the specially trained program leaders from Madelia Community Hospital & Clinic.  “The answer to someone’s question is usually in the room.”
