The Butterfield-Odin School held its annual Jump for Heart/ Hoops for Heart on March 22, 2013. Grades 1-6 participated in the event. The students went through eight different stations of either jumping rope or shooting baskets. Each student went out into the community and received donations for the American Heart Association totaling approximately $2,700.00. The students also decorated the gym with posters displaying Jump for Heart/Hoops for Heart activities. The first place winners for the poster contest received $2 in each grade. There was a contest for the fastest dribbler in Grades 4-6, and the fastest speed jumper in Grades 1-3. The top money collector in the Jump Rope for Heart went to Dalton in first grade totaling $200. The top money collector in the Hoops for Heart was Alejandra Acevedo-Trujillo in grade 5 totaling $81.
