Willis Kuhlman, age 88, of St. James, died on Wednesday, April 03, 2013, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville with Rev. Brian Thorsen officiating. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Lewisville. Willis George Kuhlman was born February 5, 1925, in Madelia, the son of Fred and Erma (Seller) Kuhlman. Willis married Sussie Phipps on August 25, 1946 in Kenosha, Wisc. Until recent years, he lived on the family farm in Fieldon Township. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities; on boards, committees and as a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing golf with his friends and his annual Canadian fishing trip with his sons. Willis was a pleasant man who rarely had a bad day or a bad word for anyone.
Survivors include his wife, Sussie Kuhlman of St. James; children, Margaret (Gary) Geilenfeldt of Beavercreek, Ohio, Doug (Rhonda) Kuhlman of Lewisville, Don (Jane) Kuhlman of St. James, Rob (Laura) Kuhlman of Portage, Mich., Dave (Erin) Kuhlman of Thorp, Wisc.; 14 grandchildren, Garth and Garrett Geilenfeldt, Prudence (Todd) Tetzloff, Stephanie (Ryan) Reid, Nick Kuhlman, Katie, Lewis, Ali, and James Kuhlman, Jessica and Kristen Kuhlman, Bennett, Briana and Jean Kuhlman; 5 great-grandchildren, Miranda, Samantha, Dylan, Halle and Morgan; sisters, Esther Lewis of Truman, Ruth Ann Shaw of Mansfield, Ohio; and brother, Roy Kuhlman of Winthrop.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
