St. James Plaindealer - St. James, MN
  • Weather really messing with sports

  • Thinking about this weather, T.S. Eliot’s masterpiece poem is aptly called The Wasteland.

It starts, “April is the cruellest month...” That is the case for St. James Area athletes this April.

  •     The old saying I remember hearing when I was a kid was, “Ya win, Ya lose some, some are rained out.” Add snowed out to the ditty this April - mid April at that.
The weather is starting to play havoc with the spring sports schedules.
Softball got a game in on Monday, but baseball and golf had more games and matches canceled on Tuesday. Neither of those sports has played this year.
If the worst of this storm strikes, the Saints could be snowed out for days.
Tennis today, Baseball Friday, track on Saturday and Monday as well as baseball on that Monday are not likely to happen the way it’s looking right now. Tennis next on Monday  at St. James - sure if you use the County Snow Plow to clear the courts.
Then golf has their home opener on the 16th. If the snow is gone and if the course is open.
