The city of LaSalle will be holding a fundraiser Mother’s Day weekend, May 10 and 11, at the Village Inn in downtown LaSalle.
Members of the playground committee have received about $5,000 already, but are looking to raise anywhere between $10,000 and $50,000 to update their existing playground equipment. Their current equipment was described by the committee as old, outdated and kind of dangerous.
New equipment will include the construction of a basketball court for the town’s many children. LaSalle is a town with a population of only 90, with 25 of that population being children.
This fundraiser will be the first of a few fundraisers, but the city is hoping to raise the money quickly so that a place can be constructed where the kids can enjoy playing.
Menu items for the fundraiser include broasted chicken on Friday night and a Hog Roast Saturday night. There will also be two separate bands playing, a bean bag tournament and raffle tickets being sold.
Individuals interested in making a donation to the LaSalle playground fund should make checks payable to LaSalle playground fund and can submit those checks at the Citizens Bank in LaSalle.
