The 2013 Lipstick Jungle fashion show was held Friday, April 19 at the St. James VFW. Scores of St. James citizens attended the fashion gala.
The third annual fashion show is a major fundraising event for the St. James Area Foundation (SJAF). Lipstick Jungle is a non-profit fundraising division of the SJAF. Lipstick Jungle is operated by an Advisory Board and sub committees.
The evening began with a social hour at 6 pm. The fashion show started at 7 pm. Women walking down the fashion runway were Carlie Olson, Tammy Stevens, Morgan Rankin, Jennifer Langbehn Anderson, Tracy Hurley, Meggie Munsterman, Nonnie Hanson, Heather Spitzner, Hannah Christenson, Tanya Jones and Jessica Christenson.
After the first fashion show, Andy Swanson of the St. James Area Foundation spoke about the activities of the foundation.
The attendees were treated to a delicious selection of desserts created by the culinary talents of the St. James VFW Ladies Auxiliary and local Chefs Heather Wentzel and Kirsten Faldet.
A second fashion show was held after the intermission. There also was a local business runway.
Participating in business runway were Fairy Tale Endings, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans-Leora Ask, Country Collage, Opera House, True Value Radio Shack and Verizon, Fleet and Farm, Mayo Clinic Health System, Pioneer Bank, Overson Lumber Company, St. James Fire Department and Superfair Foods.
VFW Post 1914 donated the space for the event.
Funds raised at the Lipstick Jungle will benefit the SJAF General Fund. Those dollars will
then be available through a grant process with the SJAF. Grant applications will be accepted two times a year (March 15th and September 15th).
Grants will be awarded to projects, individuals and organizations deemed to encourage cooperative efforts to enhance and sustain the quality of life in the Greater St. James
According to event coordinator Carlie Olson, Lipstick Jungle raised about $6,500 for the SJAF.
