The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) installed Daron Gersch, M.D., as President of the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians on April 18, 2013 during its 67th Annual Meeting.
Dr. Gersch is a family physician with the Albany Medical Center in Albany Minn., and a 1983 St. James High School graduate. He is also the son of Wayne and Phyllis Gersch of St. James.
As president, he will serve as the official representative and spokesperson for the MAFP, be a member of the Board of Directors and will chair the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, in addition to promoting the ideals and concepts of family medicine.
Dr. Gersch was appointed by Gov. Dayton to his Rural Health Advisory Committee in 2012, and is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School in St. Paul.
The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians is a professional association of approximately 3,000 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students established to assist family physicians in providing quality medical care in Minnesota. The MAFP is the largest medical specialty organization in Minnesota and is a state chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, one of the largest national medical organizations in the United States, with more than 103,000 members.
